The Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ) is essential for anyone who wants to oversee the sale and supply of alcohol in a New Zealand bar, restaurant, club or bottle store.
Whatever part of the hospitality industry you are wanting to work in, the LCQ is a key requirement.

The Licence Controller Qualification is the required training for a people who are wanting to apply for a Duty Manager’s Certificate to enable them to manage a licenced premise. The LCQ is also valuable for people starting out in the industry. Hospitality businesses are legally required to train their staff; having the LCQ before applying for a position is highly desirable to employers.
The LCQ face to face course takes place over one day, and covers all aspects of the sale and supply of alcohol, including staff and manager responsibilities, host responsibility, assessing intoxication, and how to apply for your duty managers certificate.
Content is regularly updated to maintain currency with legislation and regulatory rulings.
All students who take the LCQ course gain access to a range of additional resources including signage tools, intoxication assessment tools and revision documents to help with the Managers Certificate application.

LCQ Workshops - for students who like to reflect on their learning:
We also offer the LCQ course in a series of workshops, rather than a one day course.
This option works well for students who prefer to take their time and reflect on their learning in between workshops. Additional reflective modules are completed online.
The course is held over 3 sessions, each workshop is between 2-3 hours long and additional online learning is required.
