What you’ll learn

Day One: Akonga will explore the benefits and barriers of these groups participating in sports, and solutions to overcome barriers. Ākonga will consider the physical, emotional, and social benefits of participating in sport and how to meet the unique physical and mental needs of different players.

Day Two: Touching down into day two, ākonga will participate in kaiako led drills to examine how rules and environments can be adapted to make sport inclusive and accessible for all.

For secondary schools, we can create this course for your learners. We simply require a minimum of 14 learners for the course to go ahead. If you don't have enough learners, we can promote within other schools to reach our requirement.

Course Requirements:

  • Learners must be year 12 or 13

  • Learners are required to wear appropriate clothing for participating in rugby activities

  • Learners must currently be involved in a rugby team

This course gains the learner 10 credits at level 3.
